Finland: Lapland New Year's Eve Holiday
Could this be your best ever New Years Eve?
Tired of the same old New Year parties? Opt for something special this festive season and jet off to Lapland for a New Years Eve break. Stay in a traditional log cabin, complete with your own fireplace, private sauna and icicles hanging from the eaves, and you can even spend one night of your holiday in your choice of either a snow or glass igloo for a truly memorable experience.
You will be staying for four nights at the Kakslauttanen Igloo Village in the far north of Finland, high above the Arctic Circle in a region inhabited by the indigenous Sámi people. During this time, you will have the opportunity to learn about their customs and experience their way of life through several exciting activities such as dog sledding and a reindeer safari. You can even have a go at snowmobiling, which is not strictly a traditional Sámi pastime, but it’s a lot of fun all the same!
In Lapland on New Years Eve, there are a number of customs that the local people observe, such as a bizarre way of predicting what the New Year has in store for them. Find out what this entails when you join in the celebrations at the Igloo Village and tuck into a feast of delicious Lappish delicacies. You will wonder why you have waited so long to visit Lapland!
