  • Day 1 - Fly to Reykjavík

    Discover nature’s wonderland - Fly to Reykjavík

    Arrive in Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavík, and transfer to the selected hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, venture into the city and soak up the lively ambience of this cosmopolitan destination.

  • Day 2 - Discover Icelandic History

    Discover Icelandic History

    Walking holidays in Iceland begin with a sightseeing tour of Reykjavík, followed by a drive north to Borgarnes where you will be introduced to the fascinating Icelandic sagas. In the afternoon we visit Deildartunguhver, the largest hot springs in the country, which are responsible for heating the towns of Akranes and Borgarnes. We also visit Hraunfossar, one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Iceland. Later we continue to the cultural site of Reykholt and delve further into the history of Iceland.

  • Day 3 - West to North

    West to North

    The west of Iceland is strewn with volcanoes and this morning we climb one of them to experience the intriguing geological features close up. Afterwards, walking holidays in Iceland continue across lush farmland and fjordlands to the city of Akureyri in the northwest. We spend some time there before travelling on to the immense Goðafoss Waterfall, which translates as ‘waterfall of the gods’. Our accommodation for the next two nights is in northeast Iceland.

  • Day 4 - Whale Watching at Húsavík (Weather permitting)

    Húsavík has become the whale watching capital of Europe due to the different species which are often spotted here and is a highlight of our walking holidays in Iceland. Keep watch for minke, humpback and blue whale as well as harbour porpoises and dolphins. Next, we make our way to Lake Mývatn and admire the spectacular volcanic landforms and lava formations in the area. We then take a walk around Dimmuborgir lava field and end the day with a relaxing soak in the geothermal baths.

  • Day 5 - Krafla Volcano and Dettifoss Waterfall

    Krafla Volcano and Dettifoss Waterfall

    Today, see the active volcano Krafla and the magnificent Dettifoss waterfall which can be found in the geothermal area of Vatnajökull National Park. Our journey continues east through the highlands and we stay overnight at Egilsstaðir.

  • Day 6 - Vatnajökull Glacier

    Vatnajökull Glacier

    As we travel this morning, picturesque views of fjords and colourful fishing villages present themselves. Later we arrive at the majestic Vatnajökull glacier, which covers around 8% of Iceland and is the largest in Europe. Its white peaks calve into the pale blue lagoon and we take an idyllic boat trip between the floating icebergs. Tonight we stay near Skaftafell.

  • Day 7 - Skaftafell


    This incredible beauty spot lies at the foot of Iceland’s tallest mountain, Hvannadalshnjúkur, and is a great place to visit on walking holidays in Iceland. After some time exploring, we continue across sandy desert to the black lava beaches at Vík. Later in the afternoon we pay a visit to the Skógar Folk Museum and marvel at the charming turf houses.

  • Day 8 - Golden Circle Tour

    Golden Circle Tour

    On walking holidays in Iceland you will have the opportunity to meet Icelandic horses before we continue to the stunning Gullfoss Waterfall. Next we travel to the famous Geysir Hot Springs and watch the immense jets that shoot from the powerful Strokkur geyser. From here, travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Þingvellir National Park prior to our return to Reykjavík for the final night of walking holidays in Iceland.

  • Day 9 - Depart Reykjavík

    Sadly the holiday comes to an end, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
