This adventurous holiday brings you opportunities to witness many natural wonders, including the Northern Lights on an escorted tour of Iceland. During your tour, you will be guided among magnificent sites where you can explore places such as the Blue Lagoon, the South Shore and the Golden Circle, which incorporates three of Iceland’s most famous sights. There are so many captivating places to visit in Iceland that we have combined what we consider to be the most impressive sights, to produce this all-encompassing Northern Lights Escorted Tour of Iceland.

  • Day 1 - Arrival

    Upon arrival at the airport, transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavík.

  • Day 2 - Reykjavík and Borgarfjörður Saga Valley

    A professional and knowledgeable guide will lead you to some of the city’s highlights before we travel to Borgarfjörður Saga Valley. Here you can visit a traditional wool shop, walk to the summit of the Grábrók volcanic crater and witness the natural hot springs at Deildartunguhver. Nearby, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls feature on the landscape. Later, we arrive at Reykholt and learn about the mysteries of the Northern Lights during a fascinating lecture. In the evening, we go in search of the intriguing phenomena. We stay in the area for the next two nights on the Northern Lights Escorted Tour in Iceland.

  • Day 3 - Cruise the Fjord and Snæfellsnes Peninsula

    This Snæfellsnes peninsula juts out from the west coast of Iceland, below a chain of mountains. There is time to explore the harbour at Stykkishólmur before dining on board a cruise of Briðafjorður. Back on shore, wander around the local town and see the charming wooden buildings that characterise the area. Continuing to Bjarnarhöfn, you can find the local delicacy Hákarl, which is made from fermented shark meat. A journey across the lava fields that lie along the coastline, takes us to Reykholt. En route, there will be lots of photograph opportunities at Borgarnes. As if this wasn't enough, before you head out tonight time to hunt for the Aurora Borealis, your guide will give you some expert tips on how to capture your own incredible Aurora shots! So be sure to have your camera at the ready when you begin your Northern Lights chase tonight.

  • Day 4 - Golden Circle Tour

    Three more of Iceland’s most visited sites are combined in today’s Northern Lights Escorted Tour of Iceland, collectively forming the Golden Circle. Comprising Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Springs and Gullfoss Waterfall, the tour highlights some of the country’s most remarkable geological features and is a must for first time visitors.

  • Day 5 - South Coast Wonders

    Today we explore Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and Eyjafjallajökul glacier and volcano. Learn more about these wonders at the local Information Centre. The Northern Lights Escorted Tour then continues to Skogafoss, where you can see the thundering waterfall and traditional turf houses or visit the Folk Museum. This afternoon, you can enjoy a visit to the black lava beach and bird cliffs at the Reynisfjara beach for a truly unique discovery! We spend the following two nights at Vatnajökull National Park, which is home to Europe’s largest glacier and ideal for Northern Lights searches.

  • Day 6 - Icebergs and Glaciers

    Witness the dark sandy beaches and look for seals that can often be spotted on the icebergs of the lagoon. The afternoon will be spent exploring the mountains and glacier of Vatnajöull National Park. Sit down in the evening to an interesting presentation about the Northern Lights.

  • Day 7 - South Shore and the Blue Lagoon

    Explore the fabulous scenery of the South Shore, including waterfalls, basalt pillars and lava beaches. We then return to Reykyjavík for the last night of the Northern Lights Escorted Tour of Iceland. Perhaps one of the country’s most incredible attractions is the Blue Lagoon, an outdoor geothermal pool, which is mineral rich and believed to have healing properties. When the sun sets, watch the sky in case the Northern Lights make an appearance. To commemorate your time in Iceland, enjoy a farewell dinner with fellow travellers.

  • Day 8 - Depart Iceland

    Today, return to the airport for your flight home.
