This holiday very much leaves you to your own devices. There are no tour groups, no guides, just the freedom to do your own thing. We make things simple on the Norwegian Self Guided Rail Journey by booking flights, transport and superb hotels on your behalf. The rest we leave up to you. You might be interested in taking part in outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking, or you may prefer to spend your time exploring art galleries and fascinating museums. With the Norwegian Self Guided Rail Journey, you have the independence to enjoy your holiday in your own way. The two cities included in this tour have a lot to offer visitors. Bergen has some fabulous architecture and astonishing history, especially in the UNESCO listed Bryggen area. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants too, where you can sample some of the delectable Norwegian cuisine. Oslo, Norway’s capital, possesses a completely different character. It has plenty of glorious leafy parks, and the city is surrounded by densely forested hills which are ideal for hiking.

Connecting the cities of Bergen and Oslo is a spectacularly picturesque day-long journey by train, coach and ferry. On this journey you will see the heavenly Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, as well as imposing mountains and tumultuous waterfalls. Part of the journey also includes a ride on the legendary Flåm railway, one of the world’s steepest railway lines.
