Norway: Tromso to Bergen Northern Lights Voyage

Sail southwards along the dramatic coast of Norway

Sail southwards along the dramatic coast of Norway

A Norwegian voyage is a terrific way to see one of nature’s best loved phenomena, the Northern Lights. During this four-night voyage you will sail southwards from Tromso, the Arctic capital, to Norway’s second largest city of Bergen on the Northern Lights Voyage. Along the way you can visit the coastal town of Trondheim and delve into its fascinating Viking history. You will also witness magnificent natural landscapes, such as the striking Seven Sisters mountain chain and the picturesque Lofoten Islands, which are bursting with wildlife. Whales often frequent the waters off the coast of northern Norway and you might also see seals lazing around on the sugary beaches or white-tailed eagles soaring in the sky.

Life aboard the ship is informal and relaxed. The interior décor is reflective of Norwegian culture, with Sámi artworks adorning the walls. The restaurant serves fresh and sumptuous dishes, which give you the opportunity to try authentic Norwegian cuisine. Due to the ship’s position out at sea, when night falls there is complete darkness, which is perfect for spotting the Aurora Borealis. Every night, as the ship makes its way down the coast to Bergen on the Northern Lights Voyage, a new opportunity to see the Aurora presents itself. Brave the cold and head to the outside deck for a superb view of the lights, or stay warm and watch through the enormous windows of the ship’s Panorama Lounge.

    Lofoten Islands

Arguably one of the most picturesque areas of Norway, the Lofoten Islands consist of thousands of rugged, mountainous islets with idyllic beaches that teem with wildlife. You might spot seals, whales and different types of seabirds from the ship, and you can borrow a pair of binoculars for a closer view. Before we cross the Arctic Circle, keep an eye on the skies tonight for a glimpse of the Northern Lights above this impeccable scenery.
